Local Zakat in Action!
Alhamdulillah, we anticipate the arrival of approximately 800 Palestinians in Australia on Visitor Visa's (Subclass 600). As of the 19th of January 2024, we have 85 sponsor applications that have been successfully registered with us, representing a total of 435 individual family members who will be seeking assistance upon their arrival in Australia.
To date, we have already provided support to 203 individuals from Gaza who are now in Australia. Thanks to your generous Zakat contributions we have distributed $183,258 towards their well-being and resettlement.
Based on our 10 years of experience in emergency case management, we are grateful to be in a position to utilise our expertise to assist the new arrivals. This assistance includes a digital platform designed to track applications and associated identification documents. Moreover, we have developed an assessment framework that enables us to accurately determine the most holistic way to assist individuals or families, extending beyond financial aid. Furthermore, our established audit and reporting framework ensures full transparency in all financial distributions. We have a trained team of case workers managing the cases with empathy, privacy and in Arabic.
This emphasizes why paying Zakat locally is essential. When individuals contribute locally, it enables us to be better prepared for times like this, facilitating swift and targeted assistance. Local Zakat contributions empower us to build the necessary infrastructure and resources, allowing for immediate response during emergencies, such as supporting families from Gaza.
Additionally, we consistently seek opportunities to collaborate with other organisations to amplify the impact and assistance that our community can provide to those in need in the long run. This collaboration is facilitated through our programs and partners network, such as Warm Embrace (Assisting Gaza Arrivals).
If you would like to collaborate with us please email us at partnerships@nzf.org.au
If you would like to donate towards the needs of families/individuals from Gaza, you can donate Zakat or Sadaqah towards our Warm Embrace program here
The Power of Local Zakat: Highlighting the Third Pillar in Action
Gaza Zakat Distribution Program
We are assisting applicants Australia wide.
Facilitating Integration: By providing financial support for essential needs and ongoing expenses, the program aids in the initial settlement phase, enabling those families to focus on healing from the trauma and integration into the Australian wider community. We are committed to providing ongoing monthly support for at least the next six months.
Ensuring Basic Necessities: The allocation structure ensures that individuals of different age groups receive appropriate financial support tailored to their specific needs.
Sponsor Engagement: Involving sponsors fosters a sense of dignity, responsibility and support within the families, enhancing the overall integration process.
What if they're not Zakat Eligible: In cases where applicants are not deemed Zakat-eligible, NZF has allocated Sadaqah to meet their initial needs.
Why NZF is NOT collecting items and furniture: Within the Pillar of Zakat, the utmost importance is placed on the honour, privacy, and dignity of the applicants. We directly provide them with Zakat (Tamleek), empowering them to purchase whatever meets their specific needs.
