Tamana had always believed that marriage meant she would be protected by her husband. Instead, she endured abuse at the hands of that husband. She eventually decided to leave him, escaping the abuse and seeking safety and a fresh start for herself and her three young children. With her family living interstate, she had no immediate family support where she currently resided.
Each day was a struggle, not just emotionally but also financially. Tamana dreamed of moving back to where her extended family lived, hoping the support system there would provide a better life for her children. However, the cost of moving and travel was far too expensive, and she could barely manage her current expenses.
Living alone with three children was tough. Without any child support and being the primary carer for her kids, finding time to work was nearly impossible. Her youngest son was level three autistic and non-verbal, requiring constant attention and care. Every day, bills were piling up, and groceries were becoming harder to afford.
Desperation led Tamana to reach out to us at NZF. After conducting a Zakat assessment, we found Tamana to be Zakat eligible.
Thanks to your Zakat, Tamana's overdue bills were paid, lifting a tremendous weight off her shoulders. But the support didn’t stop there. She was provided with ongoing assistance for groceries and any other immediate needs that arose, ensuring Tamana and her children didn't go without the essentials.
Your Zakat was her lifeline. Tamana could breathe a little easier now. She could focus on caring for her children without the constant fear of financial collapse and also start planning her move interstate.
