Just Married, Looking for Stability

August 1, 2024

Dianna, a new Muslim, recently married her husband, Tahir, who is not yet a resident of Australia. Despite the joy of their marriage, they found themselves facing significant financial challenges. Dianna had been receiving job seeker payments and had just started a full-time job. Initially, she and Tahir moved in with her mother, as they couldn’t afford their own place.

Determined to find a home of their own, Dianna started applying for rental properties. Unfortunately, they faced rejection after rejection. Finally, after a long and difficult search, they were accepted for a house. This brought immense relief, but another obstacle quickly surfaced: the bond payment. With the recent wedding expenses and Dianna only just beginning her new job, they had no savings left. During the early months of their marriage, they relied solely on Tahir’s income, which was barely enough to cover their basic needs.

Now that Dianna was working full-time, she felt confident they could manage the rent going forward, but securing the bond seemed impossible. Both Dianna and Tahir found themselves without the savings needed to take this next step in their journey together.

Having heard about the National Zakat Foundation, Dianna applied online for assistance with the bond payment. After assessment, it was determined that Dianna and Tahir were eligible for Zakat. Thanks to your Zakat, Dianna and Tahir can now take the next step in their journey as a newly married couple, setting up their home and building their future together.
