Musty had been living in his van for the past two weeks. When he found the weather heating up, he realised it was becoming unbearable to stay there. Having made an error in judgment, he had packed up and ended the lease on his home, thinking his workplace was going to transfer him interstate, where he was planning to move.
When his workplace transfer fell through, he had to make a decision: move interstate with no job or stay in the city where he was residing and keep his job. He made the decision to stay; however, now he was homeless and had to start from scratch.
Musty reached out to us at NZF for help. We immediately arranged for him to stay in crisis accommodation where he could be safe and not suffer from the heat. He also reached out to a real estate agent who found him a new lease. After assessment, we found that when Musty was ready to move into his new home, he was in need of assistance with payment for the bond and the first month of rent, including the furniture he needed to start again.
This is your Local Zakat in action that has helped Musty attain stability, regain his dignity, and emerge from a dark place mentally.
