Darkest Moments

What happens when the father who raised you, provided for your family, passes away all of a sudden?

Khalida was faced with this harsh reality when her father passed away unexpectedly. Khalida became the provider for her 3 younger siblings and mother. All of this happening during the month of Ramadan. Khalida and her family were struggling to bury her father while others were preparing for Eid.

Khalida's thoughts were dark as she considered how and why these things were happening to her family. They had to flee their home country and seek asylum in Australia, a land unknown to Khalida and her family. And now, the sudden death of her father has left them in debt and without any future income. Khalida's father was the only breadwinner for the family of six, and she now feels the weight of that responsibility on her own shoulders. The future was looking bleak to Khalida. She was on a bridging visa and awaiting Centrelink payment. She was worried about how she would pay for the funeral of her father.

Somehow, she heard about NZF and got in contact with us. After speaking to our team, she felt she was in good hands and this calmed her down. The NZF team assessed Khalida and found she was Zakat eligible, our process kicked in and Khalida and her family got immediate support with funeral debt and Ramadan financial assistance. Her mother also got widow support payment while her family got medical assistance too.

Khalida and her family remain deeply saddened but maintain hope for a prosperous future. There are numerous other Muslim girls and families like Khalida's who need both emotional and financial assistance from people like you. Your Zakat and Sadaqah can provide Khalida and her family with the reassurance that better days are ahead.
