Battling Addiction

June 20, 2023

Bill has been battling mental health issues and addiction for several years now. He first contacted us at NZF when he was 17 years old. Despite numerous efforts from support organisations, referrals to specialised services, and networking with other agencies, Bill has been reluctant to confront his situation and has consistently resisted connecting with appropriate support services.

As a recipient of disability support payments, Bill has access to financial resources, but it has become apparent that his underlying struggles primarily stem from his mental health and lifestyle rather than financial limitations.

Understanding the importance of addressing Bill's immediate needs and recognising his request for basic needs, NZF has decided to extend compassionate support to him. Over a period of six months, Bill will receive monthly food vouchers worth $100. This assistance aims to ensure that he has access to nutritious meals and to alleviate the burden of meeting this fundamental need.

NZF has been actively involved in supporting Bill in various ways in the past. This included assistance with rent payments, financial living expenses, bill settlements, ongoing food provisions, clothing provisions, and referrals to medical professionals for necessary medications.

NZF remains committed to supporting Bill's journey towards improved mental health and lifestyle. Despite the challenges he faces, we will continue to explore opportunities to connect him with appropriate resources and services that can address his unique needs and empower him to lead a more fulfilling life.

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance and unsure about Zakat eligibility, please reach out to us at NZF.
