A Mother's Instinct to Protect

May 31, 2024

Wafaa knew the moment her husband assaulted her in front of their children that she needed to leave. Initially, when they married, life was great, but as time went by, her husband started to change. It began with calling her names and putting her down, then escalated to financial abuse and eventually physical abuse. She started to fear for her children's safety and, of course, her own.

After consulting with a friend, she was advised to apply to NZF for help. Upon receiving her application, due to safety concerns, Wafaa's case was fast-tracked. She and her children were placed in crisis accommodation until a more permanent home could be found. With your Zakat, her bond and rent were paid, and her basic essentials were taken care of until she and her children were more settled.

Wafaa's story is a reminder of the challenges faced by vulnerable members of our community. It is our collective responsibility to support and protect those in need, ensuring they have the resources and assistance to rebuild their lives.
